2022 International Innovation Challenge
A major challenge for the Hachette Group
In January 2022, the Development and Innovation Department (DDI) of Hachette Livre committed to identifying growth opportunities, diversifying its publishing houses, and encouraging internal innovation.
To make this vision a reality, the experts at Dynergie and Yumana helped the DDI organize the International Innovation Challenge that same year.
The key objectives were to select and accelerate 4 to 6 projects that support the growth of Hachette Livre, as well as to identify internal innovators.
Three steps to turn an idea into a project
The Challenge took place in three stages.
The first, organized by Yumana, was a call for ideas to which more than 7,700 employees responded with 152 projects.
The second phase, "Business Design," led by Dynergie and Yumana, guided the 10 finalists in refining their projects and making them compelling for the Executive Committee.
The final phase, "Business Validation," led by Dynergie, aimed to bring the concepts to market. Workshops were organized to define the collective vision, individual interests, objectives, and metrics. Personalized support, including regular coaching and market validation tailored to the projects’ progress, was implemented.
The results
A fruitful collaboration.
The collaboration between Dynergie, Yumana, and the DDI has made it possible to turn these innovative ideas into tangible results while strengthening the culture of innovation at Hachette Livre.
An international success.
Four winning projects, representing France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States, are now receiving financial and personnel support from the DDI to bring their projects to fruition following the Challenge.
Operational excellence.
The Dynergie teams were able to connect with the teams on a personal level, tailor their approach to each group, inspire them, and guide them through the execution and organization of their projects.
In conclusion.
The 2022 International Innovation Challenge was a success because it allowed us to demonstrate the operational strength of the Development and Innovation team at Hachette Livre, highlighting their value through a close and transparent partnership.
